Tuesdays 9am-12pm
Our Fall Arts-Integrated classes will approach math, science and humanities through an arts-related lens. We will observe and study changes in nature on the farm indicating Autumn's arrival and readiness for winter. Students will document their adventures and observations of plants, animals and terrain in a journal, taking note of measurements, angles, shapes, colors and sketches they have drawn from life. We will also create some art work with paints and mixed media, representative of what we have learned.
-
Wednesdays 9am-12pm
We will read some books individually for group discussion. Others might be shared and read aloud by book buddies, or paired with some easier related stories for beginning readers, depending on the reading levels of registered students. Each book will be discussed with a project, poster or writing reflection in mind, and may also include watching a movie of the same title with discussion of how the interpretation compares to the original.

From words to sentences, paragraphs to essays, combined with artwork
The Writing Workshop will focus on individual and group skills to improve creative writing.
Writers of all levels will use story-telling techniques and methods such as story stones, puppets, books without words, paintings or music as inspiration to stimulate their imaginations. We will begin with an acrostic poem project for each theme of EARTH SKY SEA, season or holiday, then students will move on to artwork and writing of paragraphs, stories or essays, learning how different types of writing may express the subject matter.
